HON & HAN

"she was a strange child, quiet and thoughtful; and while her sisters would be delighted with the wonderful things which they obtained from the wrecks of vessels, she cared for nothing but her pretty red flowers, like the sun, excepting a beautiful marble statue. It was the representation of a handsome boy, carved out of pure white stone, which had fallen to the bottom of the sea from a wreck." Hans Christian Andersen. The Little Mermaid.

MIDSUMMER :: 7FLOWERS :: 1DREAM

This weekend we celebrate Midsummer. It´s always one of the biggest -if not the biggest- festivity in Sweden. As cities turn into ghost towns, everybody goes to the countryside, to spend this weekend with family & friends. According to tradition, maidens should pick seven flowers during the midsummer night and put the flowers underneath their pillow. In return the midsummer night will bring them dreams about the man they´re going to marry. With that being a fun tradition, I just had to do that too! Even if this was actually supposed to be done by maidens and with wild flowers; these are modern times, so I added some personal touches to it! And in case you wondered; yes I did have some dreams... ;-)

SWIMMING IN THE SUN

While every other fellow Swede probably sits in a car/plane/train now -on their way to the countryside to celebrate Midsummer- I just had the best time ever in the outdoor swimming pool. An entire swimming pool just for myself:: luxury pleasure!! ;-)) Diving into the arctic blue water is part of the moments which once again make me realize just how much I love my nordic life, with the bright blue sky, the clear turquoise water, the clean fresh air and the soft midnight sun!! Sunny Stockholm summers are always such a true delight! What better way to start the Midsummer weekend! :-)

Virtual City :: Sang Un Jeon

"We are living in a world that is connected with real interaction with real people, but we spend ever more increasing amount of time on the internet, creating this virtual world that deals with pretty much everything we do in real life. We constantly engage and interact with each other through this virtual space, and the current technology have gotten to the point where we can virtually navigate real life street and see what´s out there without bothering to go out and actually see. Virtual City is a visualization of the current topography of this virtual world called the World Wide Web. Using Google Sketch-up Pro, Rhinoceros and 3d printing, virtualized real-life buildings were re-realized, combined with the initials of the most well established communities on the Internet. The heights of the individual buildings reflect on the estimated unique monthly visitors of the web site that was combined with the building, thus creating an illustration of combined structures of virtual and real world." -Virtual City by Sang Un Jeon- ...well, nothing more I could add to that--- I just felt like I had to put this on my blog, and then share it with you on facebook, twitter and google, before maybe also mailing it with hotmail and gmail to some friends... gosh, maybe time I also go watch the REAL midnight nordic sun now!! ;-)

Prometheus :: Tron Legacy :: the ultimate body suits

Just seen Ridley Scott´s "Prometheus". Was ok within its genre, but most inspiring part -for what I´m concerned- was the costumes. I have this thing for space bodysuits... Half a year ago, I designed a "muscle body suit" myself (as a futuristic couture outfit for the host of the Swedish Style awards). There´s something really great about those super tight bodysuits, with muscle fit linear detailing and contrast colors & materials. I love how it accentuates the strength in the body. It makes one more body conscious, more gracious and powerful. Lucky strike for me to then amongst others also be able to design the new menswear running tights for H&M (as part of the functional mens sportswear collection, which H&M will launch in shops next week!). Prometheus did well, but didn´t beat Tron Legacy, which is still leading my personal favorites, both for it´s space suits and for the fabulous Daft Punk soundtrack! What would your futuristic body suit look like?

Grimes :: Nightmusic

Grimes (the alias for Vancouver native Claire Boucher) has been this weekends discovery. I haven´t really decided just yet if I find her music to be utterly inspiring or just drop death creepy. She manages to spin stories about gothic fairy tale places, where harsh nordic nature meets angelic fragility... making it feel both magical and unpleasantly cold in the same time. In case you loved Lars Von Trier´s Melancholia, then you might also like this video...
