Tara Dougans :: "beware of a man´s shadow"

I love the beautiful illustrations by Tara Dougans. The bellow pictures are part of an animated series called "Beware of a Man´s Shadow", which she made for London Fashion Week FW2012 Menswear. There was also a little movie connected to it and on her website you can see the animated version of the below illustration; definitely worth checking out & really a name to keep track of I´d say!

IN BRUGES

Nowadays, living in countries all around the world isn´t all that strange anymore. I´ve had my share of it too, and -besides being a wonderful way of being able to grow up like that- it also makes me appreciate the beauty in each and every country and place more. A city I´ll always love is beautiful Bruges. "Maybe that´s what hell is; the entire rest of eternity spend in f*cking Bruges" Collin Farrell said in "In Bruges"... might be true, but then you just have to learn how to love Bruges by finding the right harmony with it I´d say. To me it´ll always have something special. Family, peaceful places, medieval culture, museums... and magic. My favorite moments in Bruges have always been biking through a peaceful and empty town. As crowded with tourists it might be during daytime, as quiet it can get after 6 o´clock. That would be my one tip for you who´d think about visiting Bruges; walk around town in the evening and let yourself be taken by the magic from this medieval town! Bruges:: I might live thousands of kilometers away from you, but I´ll always love you!

contrapposizione + "2012 :: New World Order"

Upcoming friday -july 6th 2012- there´ll be the official opening of "Contrapposizione"; a fashion & art exhibition inspired by Renaissance Venice, at the Castle of Alden Biesen in Belgium. My contribution to the exhibition consists of 12 illustrations, entitled; "2012 :: New World Order". In case you´d wonder what my work is about, then this might (or might not) give you a small hint already:

In case you´d happen to be in Belgium this summer, then you can always check out the exhibition at the Alden Biesen Castle (Kasteelstraat 6 - 3740 Bilzen - Belgium). All the artworks will be on display from july 7th till september 2nd 2012!

finally!!

After years of trying, the waiting finally got rewarded with some sweet delight. What am I talking about? My very first strawberry!! Or ok, yes yes; I did eat strawberries before... but this one was very special; it came from my own garden. Totally ecological and SO good!! For years I have been growing strawberries in my garden, but every time they were about ready to be eaten, some secret visitors (the deer who are living in my neighborhood) quietly came to eat those delicious strawberries. But victory victory; not today! Even if I did 3hours overtime at work, the long nordic days still allowed me to enjoy a dive in the pool and some countryside pleasure with a sparkling red strawberry. Happy nordic summer days! :-)
