The perfect company for Model Talk´s Babs with other words! Not only did Babs -as from now on also to be known as Miss Molecule- hang out with the coolest girls in town (a must for every self respecting supermodel, of course), but she also met some great new friends; Gnomie and Bambi. She might have missed her mode of transportation to get to the wedding where she was supposed to be, but that didn´t keep her from having a most amazing time!

Model Talk & Alfa Papyrus

Before taking the midnight flight back to Sweden, Trudy still made a quick stop at my aunt´s place in Bruges. A model will always be a model, so the mirror could not be passed by without a quick glance into it. She also striked the pose between the books and the boxes from my aunt´s shop "Alfa Papyrus"; a treasure place you don´t want to miss out on when visiting Bruges!

Family Life

Even Supermodels sometimes get a reality check, when glamour red carpet gets exchanged for a busy family life. Inneken told the story both in text and image...

"After eavesdropping and peeping into our family life, Trudy decided, in the nick of time, she wanted to join in. She started to come down with us, regular people, and wanted to pitch in during morning rush. Brushing five people’s teeth, washing up five snouts and ten hands. Getting dressed, fed and ready to go. Already exhausted, she got with me on my bike going to school. On the way Trudy posed, what she does best, and enjoyed the perfect view, cigaret in hand..."

Flashdance

I put my close friend Meike under slight pressure that she really REALLY had to send in a picture for the Model Talk Competition, because I knew the result would give me something to think about... So; I just received her contribution. Knowing Meike, there´ll probably be a whole story behind it which I´ll have to question her about. Virginia Woolf´s "Night and Day", lipstick, aspirins for headache, a phone, a purse, tickets for a ride at Gröna Lund... hmmm, a story is getting shape in my mind. Probably something about Intellectual Nightlife...

Es muss nicht immer Kaviar sein

Last hours for the Model Talk Competition, so contributions are still flowing in last minute! My colleague -and ever lovely- Tanja Sivonen send me her selection of pictures, entitled "Es muss nicht immer Kaviar sein". While spending a little holiday in exciting Berlin, she also took Model Talk´s Babs along on the trip, so she could enjoy the energy of the city too! One of my former Art Academy teachers -Moniek Darge- send me the pictures below, as part of the Model Talk Competition (which has deadline tomorrow!). If pictures could make music, then the pictures below would probably be the most amazing sound experience you´ve had in a long time! Midnight Literature

The fun thing about the Model Talk Competition is that it actually gives some insight into the life of every participant. This contribution is no different. At this time of the year, quiet a number of students spend many sleepless nights bent over theoretical books, in preparation of their upcoming exams before the summer break. My sister Jasmijn is one of them, so she got some company during the reading of her Pedagogic lecture... hopefully it was some helpful support which brought some enlightenment and/or support during those long working hours! Either way; good luck to all those many hard working students!!

Royal meetings & TV Performances

The Model Talk Competition continues its journey around the globe. Supermodels Babs & Trudy are not only to be seen on catwalks & glamorous red carpet events worldwide. Big media happenings & TV performances are also on their agenda. For this occasion Belgian Royalty and Media photographer Reinout Goddyn took them to the European Parliament, where they met up with King Albert II of Belgium and Herman Van Rompuy, President of the European Council. In the afternoon they also made a little stop at the VTM TV studio, for the 13 o´clock news with TV News Anchor Cathérine Moerkerke. Just one of those days with other words...

ECO thinking

Ecological thinking is something we all benefit of, and seeing that message captured by my little cousin Lukas feels like a very hopeful message towards a more healthy future on this planet! So far he´s the youngest participant to the Model Talk Competition, but that didn´t keep him from bringing a strong -yet also playful- story, where toy land meets environmental thinking. "wie slim is sorteert..." (or; "those who are smart sort their garbage") I like that!

Shanghai Moon

Sometimes it´s not all that hard to love my job. Just spend one week in Shanghai for work. It ended up being long working days, but what better way to refill the batteries -after jet-lag & busy days- than with a luxury stay at The Portman Ritz-Carlton in Shanghai? Already looking forward to my next Asia trip!

True Style by Jaszmurka

I just received some really amazing pictures -for the Model Talk Competition- made by Polish Jaszmurka. She portrayed her little supermodel with all the things she loves in life; graffiti, paint brushes, art and old cameras. If I didn´t have enough reasons already, I just found myself one more reason why I urgently need to learn polish; so I can follow Jaszmurka´s playful and fun blog more in detail! It´s such a pleasure to see her beautiful pictures and fun graphical work! Looking at the stylish pictures below totally leaves me with a hunger for seeing more of her work!

Today I participated in a world wide photo project called "A DAY". The concept is really easy; on may 15th (today), people all around the world can upload pictures to the project, showing their daily life and surrounding. This as a time capsule for generations to come. I send in pictures for the categories; work :: home :: inspiration wall :: nature&elements and food. I love projects like that, and I find it actually pretty funny to see my daily life in a nutshell.

If anything, it actually does make me think; I like my life! But I wonder; what will someone think about them when seeing those pictures within, let´s say, 300 years??

>> update 09.11.2012 :: Release Event for "A Day In The World"@ Kulturhuset - Stockholm

A couple of months after I send in my contribution I got contacted with the fun news that one of my pictures got selected for the book "A Day In The World". Out of 100.000 pictures, 1000 images got selected to be published in the book. Felt really cool to be part of that (even if my image was tiny small;-)), and slightly surreal that this picture will now also be in the time capsule which they´ll make. That time capsule is in fact a futuristic looking metal design which will contain all the pictures, and will be placed deep inside the Falun copper mine in Sweden. ...so within some hundred years someone might dig the thing up and discover what this world and life looked like on may 15th 2012.
